Apps revisited

There are clearly still questions about how the apps are going to work. Questions like, Will it take multiple Primes to get re-branding for more than one domain? And, Are the upcoming apps going to be covered by one re-brand purchase? etc.

Prime received its adjustment last week, because of the imbalance between the number of re-brands initially allowed 1 mobile app and 3 desktop re-brandings. This made it hard to juggle further purchases for those who simply had to apply re-branding to mobile apps for all domains. Buying more Prime licenses to gain more re-branding rights for mobile apps also brought 3 more probably unneeded Desktop re-brands. Voila! Desktop re-branding charges were dropped to take that out of the picture and make things simpler.

With the announcement of separate re-branding rights for $299 for everyone and not just Prime license holders, purchasers can now just buy extra rights for a domain for that price. This announcement really brought re-branding access for many more people and easier access to additional re-brands for Prime license holders, too.

The new question seems to be, Will Android and others be charged the same way, or is one re-branding purchase good for all coming apps? Sorry folks, this takes development work and they are not all free for re-branding with one purchase. Lots of time and effort is put into these. They are separate products and will be licensed that way.

Remember, everyone gets to use the apps, but you're not paying for that. You're paying for the right to remove our marks from them so that you can make them look like yours. Just like Dolphin!

I'm going to treat this like a newbie who doesn't want to do a search and let you answer them if you will Mike:

1. Is the $299.00 in US Dollars, Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars? You know many will ask. I'm thinking it's in US Dollars.

2. Is the $299.00 for 90 Days, 1 Year, Lifetime? I'm also thinking this is lifetime here.

3. Can I purchase one re-branding of the software and use it on multiple domains. For example: If I have 5 sites and purchase the iPhone App and name it MyDatery see more iPhone, can I use that on all my domains with the name MyDatery iPhone or must I purchase it for each site? I have no clue on this one, so you get to answer it.

4. Will Boonex offer support on this re-branding? How difficult is it? Do we need to hit the source code to re-brand or can we do it from an admin panel for example?

5. Will we have re-branding rights to the desktops for Prime Members only or will the Advanced & Premium Members who purchase Lifetime licenses have re-branding of the desktop apps too? I'm thinking you have to purchase Prime here, but I'll let you clarify this.

They'll be more questions I'm sure. But these should get you started.

I still think that charging separately for each platform is the incorrect way to handle this. Yes, as a Programmer myself, I realize that developing for different platforms requires separate skills, and additional work. Android Apps must be programmed in Java, Windows Mobile Apps must be programmed for the idiosyncrasies of the ARM processor, and usually are programmed in C/C++, and iPhone applications are written in Objective-C. However, many other companies that provide their software for multiple see more platforms often provide the software for all of the platforms that they support with a single license. (VMWare for example provides a copy of their Mac, Linux, AND Windows software with a single license.)

As you stated, we aren't paying for the applications themselves (which you stated are being developed for open deployment to everyone anyway), we are paying for the re-branding rights. Honestly, if the iPhone application performs the same functions as the Android or Windows Mobile application, then the argument can definitely be made that it ISN'T a separate application, but merely is being implemented on a different platform. For this reason, I think it is rather ridiculous to force us to pay multiple times for the SAME FEATURES so that we can provide support to the widest audience (multiple device platforms) to the SAME WEBSITES.
