Ad-free license footer links removal patch
Here is a little question that I have posed to the Boonex support team. I have never patched software before so I was hoping that someone would be able to give me a bit of help:
Hi there,
I purchased the ad-free license and want to upload the patch that was released to rectify the footers problem but am a bit confused about this sentence:
''Step 2: Upload all files accordingly to their location in the script and in the patch file by file overwriting them.''
Does this mean that i need to follow the Dolphin 6.1.0 to 6.1.1 Diff file and change each line of code that is different individually line by line, or can i simply overwrite the entire contents of each folder with the new code?
Thanks for your help
No it means you should place file from upgrade folder like ray/modules/chat/app/user.swf to the same place in your Dolphin site's directory:
dolphin folder/ray/modules/chat/app/user.swf
Regards
For the benefit of inexperienced people such as myself and others starting out, would it be possible to go into a little more detail.
To clarify the way I understand it, take browse.php for example. There is the original 6.1 version in my dolphin directory and now I have the 6.1.1 patch version of browse.php see more
Before you even atempt to upgrade. First download a backup from your host control panel. Second download the database mysql from your host control panel or phpmyadmin. These are a must. Do not even think about upgrading without doing so first.
If you have not manually tweaked, altered, removed, adjusted or whatever you want to call it actual code of the script, then simply overwrite the 6.1.0 files on your server with the 6.1.1 patch. Follow the instructions, to run upgrade. They do leave see more
Thanks for the long post - helpful! Did the MySQL stuff you said and because I haven't modified anything, can overwrite the files directly using FTP.
Still can' t quite understand why cutting and pasting the code from the patch files directly to the edit file view on my server wouldn't work or would it do the same thing?
