Ideas

This module is designed to allow site members to share their ideas and demands. A member can post an idea, get some discussion about it if he wants to and wait for someone to implement it. This can serve as a nice tool to determine your members' requirements and demands. For example before making some changes to the site you can describe it as an idea and see the feedback of your members regarding that new feature.

Besides that it can be used simply to discuss common ideas and collect opinions. All opinions could be rated, thus giving a score and making it easier to decide whether an idea is worthwhile or not according to public opinions.

Let us describe its main features:

1. Anyone can share an idea. Not only admin. However, using the Page Access Control module (part of Dolphin out of the box) admin is able to restrict ideas creation to certain membership levels.


2. All ideas supports privacy, meaning that an author of an idea can share it with friends only for example, or with any of his custom privacy groups.


3. An Idea supports two types of discussion, both are optional: a comments system and an opinions system. Comments - are just usual comments like everywhere in Dolphin, while opinions is a custom made system inspired by disputes/debates-like systems. It allows members to post opinions while each can be rated +1/-1. All opinions are then sorted by score in two columns - "For" and "Against". Each column has a total score at the bottom.


4. Any Idea can be taken on and implemented by any member. After it is implemented a member is able to mark the idea as such and provide an URL to the implementation (optional). Thus these ideas can have links to their implementations.


5. All ideas are split into additional categories - discussed/assigned/implemented, allowing anyone to see successful ideas, or ideas being implemented at the moment.

Feel free to give the module a test on our public demo site (see address and test account's credentials above). Also we encourage you to leave your ideas there. Ideas which get the most feedback are likely to be implemented by us in the near future.
