Fix bug in matches based on Sex and LookingFor fields

I have a custom matches block which pulls data from the sys_profiles_match table but in certain instances, matches which should be matches are not being saved as matches.  For instance,

Member A is a man looking for a woman and matches with Member B who is a woman looking for a man or a woman.  If I then change Member A to be a man looking for a man or woman then he no longer matches with Member B when he should. 

I need this fixed urgently and have tried all manner of fixes but without success.  Note that I'm not asking anyone to fix the custom matches block but the actual saving of matches done by the Dolphin system.
