Adapt Events to Car Pool module

Hi I'm setting up a Dolphin site for a client and they want a carpooling feature. I thought the events module has the features needed with possibly a few fields and features added and deleted. 
I need someone to duplicate it and adapt it for carpooling?
Is this able to be done?
How much would it cost? 
I want to use the present Events as it is as a separate module as well?
