file permission problems for 6.1.4

I am getting this message during installation of 6.1.4 even though all file permissions check out green. when I click next it will not allow me to complete my install.

Next files have inappropriate permissions:
   inc/db_cached/MenuContent.inc;
   inc/db_cached/PageView.inc;
   inc/db_cached/SiteStat.inc;
   inc/db_cached/ProfileFields.inc;

These files are not even listed in the install chomod check list...

what should the files be chomod to ?

what should the directories be chomod to ?

thanks

Each of those files should be 666 file permission.

Well that sounds simple enough but it doesn't make a difference. I have chomod inc to 777, chomod db_cached to 777 and chomod MenuContent.inc, PageView.inc, SiteStat.inc, ProfileFields.inc to 666

I still recieve the following errrors during install

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/MenuContent.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/PageView.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/SiteStat.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/ProfileFields.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Any other suggestions???

thanks

Check them again as the error says there are no perms on those files  .....

Sometimes my FTP will 'appear' to have changed them when infact I refresh the view and it didn't  .....

At any rate it appears those four files are whats holding you back  .....

I have a VPS so I have my own access and chomod from my Cpanel file manager so the permissions are definately correct now I do all my work online through my VPS Cpanel services. - I only use a simple ftp client to upload files from my pc, "FTP Classic" perhaps this is the problem? I will try doing a fresh install after I hunt for another free ftp client to try. Thanks

Cpanel is very slooooow for changing all those perms one-by-one .....

With FTP client you can do multi at same swipe and getRdone .....

LeechFTP is a decent enough free client, and simple to use..

ok, checked with my VPS server hostforweb - I meet all Technical Requirements - of course, they are the recommended host...

I then did a fresh install

I have all permissions chomod correctly, followed detail install intructions.

I still cannot install successfully - will not allow me to continue past permissions during installation, I get the following error messages

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/MenuContent.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/PageView.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/SiteStat.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Warning: fileperms() [function.fileperms]: stat failed for ../inc/db_cached/ProfileFields.inc in /home/mywebsite/public_html/install/index.php on line 1607

Next files have inappropriate permissions:
   inc/db_cached/MenuContent.inc;
   inc/db_cached/PageView.inc;
   inc/db_cached/SiteStat.inc;
   inc/db_cached/ProfileFields.inc;

perplexing, I am not that naive, I know how to chomod - has anyone else had this problem with version 6.1.4?

better still can anyone tell me where I can download version 6.1.2 - I will try that one if I can find it!

Thanks

From 6.1.2 to 6.1.4 was no changes about cache, at all :)

Yes, guys here are right, all permissions to this files must be 666 (writable),

after applying chmod, can you execute ls -al

to be sure that you got 666 permissions ..
