This will implement a similar feature to Google Alerts on your site. It allows your site members to easily monitor the site for interesting new content. Your members will love you for this.
Dolphin Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant content results (events, news, forum discussions etc.) based on the member's choice of keyword or topic.
Alerts are sent to the members email whenever content is posted on the site that contains keywords they want to monitor.
Alerts can be configured to be sent three ways :
a) Immediately after the content is posted
b) Daily - a summary of all relevant content is sent at the end of the day
c) Weekly - a summary of all relevant content is sent at the end of the week
Members can configure which email they want the results to be delivered to. By default, this is set to their registration email.
For each alert created, the member can configure whether they want the Keyword to match if it appears in Topic, Description or both.
For each alert created, the member can configure the Type of content they are interested in (eg. News and Events or only Articles etc).
Content types that can be monitored with Alerts include:
* Site News
* Events
* Groups
* Forums
* Store
* Articles
* Blogs
* Media (Videos, Photo, Sounds etc)
There is an Admin interface that allows you to easily integrate third party modules with the Alerts.
Some handy uses of the Alerts tool include:
* monitoring a developing news story
* keeping current on forum discussions
* getting the latest on a event
* keeping tabs on favorite groups

This mod is a content monitoring service that automatically notifies your members when new content from dolphin and third party modules matches a set of search terms selected by the user.
