Strange Video Processing

I have been able to finally upload and process a few videos.  Now, for 2nd day in row, something that is puzzling to me has happened again.

When I  first upload a video, and go  to check it I receive the message ERROR:  FILE NOT PROCESSED.

Ok, well, that happened with 2 test videos last night, so I just shut  'er down and behold this morning, the videos were playing.  Hmmm...same thing happened the day before.

I contact host, and well, figures they are not gonn'a touch this Dolphin beta as they say "long ways to go"...hmmm...ok...

Said contact Dolphin :)

Anyway, with 6.1.6 the videos process quickly and are  viewable.

My question:  Does anyone have any idea why  this is going on?   Why the process time may be taking so long?   Why some videos seem to upload and play after several hours?

That was more than one question Cry

I have the same trouble like yours. The upload by Flash runs so fast but there's no file be uploaded. In regular type, I have uploaded an .flv video. >>> Error: file not processed

Thanks for the reply.  I would have thought by now, we might be seeing more who have had same problem.

Anyone else out there with this problem?  Anyone know a possible solution?  Anyone got their videos to work?

Again, the strange thing occurs.

Upload video, get ERROR:  FILE NOT PROCESSED

If I leave it on my server overnight, it processes.  hmmmm...strange.  Now, I know it is not my server as on 6.x site, videos process almost immediately. Beginning to suspect code somewhere somehow, but need help from others far more advanced and experienced :)

Have great day!

Also, on front page on stats, even with five videos posted

The video section shows zero videos.

Hello nolimit24_fj!

Plz specify - do you have installed and setup Cron Jobs? Because now videos are converted by file which is run every 5 minutes.

LeonidS,

This could be the problem.  Had not considered that among working on so much.

What setting would one use for cron?   I do have it set up  but I  see it was set for midnight.  Do you or can you suggest recommended setting.   I think this explains the odd behavior and glad you brought this to our attention.

LeonidS, and any others having same problem.

Just wanted to update as this corrected the problem.   Videos are now processing fine.  Leonid, we  have it set  to every minute

* * * * * *

so we could test.

You recommend every five minutes correct?  And,  LeonidS, I cannot say  "Thanks" enough for your willingness to assist us on  this  matter.  Hats off to you.

Superbus,

It is recommended by most host providers not to set  at every minute on cron jobs.  That will get some problems started depending on your host.

In your cron jobs set to five minutes  to start  with.  You can always adjust downwards or upwards later.

Enter 5 * * * *

That "five" means every five minutes, and the others have value to, but so you can check things enter  the above.  If you  wish to set to 1 * * * * to test your site immediately, you can do so.  Then, test upload.  Still depending on host, I would go back and reset to 5 or ask your host their recommendations.

Hope this helps you some.  Let us know and have a super day.

I have same issues with videos and have set cron jobs to every 5 minutes. It says the video was a success in loading but album is empty. No matter where I try to install a video it says it has uploaded but albums all stay empty and I can not post a video to the wall as well. Seems this is a BIG bug.

* * * * * cd /full/path/to/your/server/public_html/periodic; /usr/local/bin/php -q cron.php

Be aware that this cron command does not work properly for all servers and certainly will not work until you put your actual full path in it.

Using the browse feature to find the cron.php file in the /periodic/ folder works best for some servers.

The * * * * * above represents how oftin it should run. Do not include * * * * * if you are in basic mode and selecting the time to run from the cron options.
