Beginner Install Questions 7.0 Beta

Hi all,

Ok, the 7.0 beta installed.  Now, I am at the point of installing the various modules.  Boards, forums, chat, articles, classifieds, etc. as we have on our 6.x site.

We had no problem on installing the 6.x and the site does fine.  Of course, we had an auto install link with our host :)

Any  help or links, or instructions on how to go about installing each module?  I take it I am going to have to  do each one since host does not have the  "auto install" on beta.

This make sense?

So let me modify this a tad.  Anyone know of  good site to go and read on the administration tools for this 7.0?  I have installed for example the video module, but cannot seem to find how one goes about uploading  a video.  I am sure there must be a setting I have not discovered yet...so, any instruction admin manuals?

By default there's a video album created.

Click on the album and you will see a Add video link on the header of the block.

Or you can create a new album and proceed the same way.

Hope this help

Hi Wolf,

Thanks.  I have set proper  permissions on membership level to allow video uploads.

At the moment I am trying to  "record" a video onto the profile album.

I get "connection error" box.

Any  idea on what may be causing this?

Did you install the videos module?

It sounds like there might be a connection problem with your camera.

Make sure it's plugged in or try open you camera software or windows movie maker.

I haven't tried it yet on my site...but i'll try it now

The cam software was working fine.  I tried to upload a test video and it uploaded.  However, when  I went to check it out and view, I go the following:

Warning! The page not found in PageView cache.
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/nolimit/public_html/beeabuzzin/inc/classes/BxDolPageView.php:169) in /home/nolimit/public_html/beeabuzzin/inc/design.inc.php on line 190

So, at moment killer, as you see, I got couple  problems.  One the connect issue when trying to record as mentioned, and now the above when simply using  the flash upload feature.

Guess I best correct one at time.

Let me know how ya' coming out.

I got a "Connection Error, click Ok to reconnect"

Assuming you get the same.

As far as the other error goes i am not sure what that would be caused from.

In the meantime i'm going to try and figure out this connection thing.

Hmmm...I looked at the file and the <?  or ?>.   Got blurry eyed.  This may be something that is gonna' stop my progress.  Maybe someone will drop by and help out.  If I stumble across the problem, will update.

Ohhhh so close, yet so far!  :)

Wondering if this is a permission issue on files/folders.  Gonna try the blog folder and see.

Stop thinking and protect your index.

I've removed them now, you can remove the restriction otherwise people will not visit this topic...

No, in fact I've done the job by removing the photos.

I could of downloaded copy of your whole server, but why? What for?

Anyway, take care.

What he means is simple.  Line 1 of your php file should be:

<?

The very last line of your php file should be:

?>

You should have no extra lines before or after, it can cause errors

The server you got those from was separate than one we are working on now.  I figured since pics were posted maybe you would followup with how one protects the index file maybe even including me.Laughing

glad you brought to my attention.

Thanks for the nudge.
