Invitation only site

I thought I read somewhere that 6.1.2 can be used to make "invitation only" sites.  Could someone tell me exactly how this is done?  Maybe there is some combination of settings?  Could someone clue me in.

Thanks

hi Rob ..I tested this out and the invite friend link send links that activate only.

So you, a  member click invite a friend, me and now with that link in email I can hit join, otherwise I never can. Easy peasy

I have video tutorials to help you mrpowless.com

Thanks Darren,

I understand how it works now, but where is it?  I might be looking right at it- does anyone know where the setting for this is?

Goto advanced settings in admin panel and check the join by invitation only. This will fix your problem.

...and don't forget to Activate the Affiliates Program. Otherwise i'm afraid it won't work

I have enabled the "Invitation Only" option... however, it only works in IE.   If I go to the site using Firefox I am still able to register even though its by invitation only.

If I go there using IE7... I am met with a "Registration by Invitation Only" screen.

Anyone else having this problem?  Any ideas on how to correct it?

I have tried this feature on IE7, FF3.0 and Opera 9.51 --- worked in all of them.

I am using FF3.0 and IE7... works in IE, doesn't work in FF.  And when I say "works" I mean it only displays the page with a "Registration by Invitation Only" message.  Which is what is should be doing.

But then the affiliate part of this doesn't work either.
