Hello,

1. I can't not find where I can translate the title of each categories for multilanguage site (activity, ads, events,...) in the member configuration of notify.

I try for exemple to change _modzzz_notify_wall_title for Wall but without success.

Can you tell me where to look.

2. It look like when a person look at the page in english, then the notify email is in english, also when the language of the person that receive the email is italian, french,...

Will it be possible to change that ?

1) The mod comes with a readme_languages.txt file that has very thorough instructions on translating the language strings

2) You can manage the Email Templates by logging into your admin and go to Settings => Email Templates .

Did you follow this instruction found in the readme.txt ? ...... "Initialize mod by going to Admin => Modules => Notification => Initialize Members"

I am having the same issue.  The Mod does not seem to be sending any notifications to the members.  I can get them in my admin email, but the test accounts do not get anything.  No it's not in the spam folder, and yes, I followed the instructions verbatim.  Initialize and all.  Please help!

I created a test profile on your site and notifications is working for me. I suggest you check your spam folder to see if the messages are being sent there.

Love this Mod, has really helped drive people back to my site.

One thing I would like to know is, when someone comments/replies to a blog, a notification is sent to the the owner of the blog, but is someone then comments on that persons comment (so not the main blog) a notification is sent to the owner of the blog not the owner of the sub comment, is it possible for a notification to go to both blog owner and comment owner?

I have made a note of this request for the next update.

When I installed the updates to ver.2.02 it killed the ability for non logged guests to visit any members page or profile the url would default back to the homepage. Had to uninstall module. 

 I am aware of the issue. I will fix this later today.

The issue has been resolved. Apply the latest patch again (except the SQL portion. Do not re-run the sqlupdate.php)

 Hi Modzzz... I'm about o go out and get this developed by myself, it's an important part of my site, many people are posting sub comments to blog comments.

If you plan to fix this soon please let me know, otherwise I will go and get it developed by a 3rd party.

My members like to receive notification when someone posts to their wall, however when this notification is turned on they receive emails whenever they upload content and that gets posted to their wall. ie - every time a member uploads a photo, that event is posted to their own wall & they receive notification that they posted to their own wall.

Is there any way to turn this off without disabling wall notifications completely?

I would purchase this module if it had an option to deliver emails by Daily, Day of the Week, or Weekly setting for ALL notifications (NOT by individual mod for user convenience).

Example:

Email Notification: *Select what day(s) to receive email notifications.

• [ ] Sunday
• [ ] Monday
• [ ] Tuesday
• [ ] Wednesday
• [ ] Thursday
• [ ] Friday
• [ ] Saturday

Ignore bullets above... it's the only way I could get the spacing to not look weird.

My concern is that users would perceive the constant notifications as spam if they are not given the option of what day(s) to receive notifications.

Obviously, if the member checks:

• Each day - the notifications would be Daily
•  One day or multiple days - notifications would be sent the specific day the member chooses (allow the member to choose which day works best to check out the email and visit the site.
• One day - the notifications would be weekly.

This mod is very good, and it is much needed. But, after experiencing with it with my members, it needs 2 major imporvements:

1) When the member receive the notification about a comment, the notification DOES NOT include the link to the comment other members commented on. (this has already been sent i the email for you)

2) (New) Facebook just release a new feature, where members will set the Frequency of the notification. Meaning, members will like to revive the notification (immanently, once a day, weekly) to minimize the amount of emails being send.   

Could you please implement those two features..as soon as possible, because many of my members saying to me.."We are lost, and we do not know who is commenting and where"

a) Adds the ability for members to chose to receive batch notifications on a Daily or Weekly basis

b) Initialization of Settings is now done via Cron Job. Manual Initialization is no longer required upon installation

Jerome, with regards to the Ultimate Notifier; I have IBDW's News Feed (Wall) installed on site, so will it work with that? Please advise

 Assuming his mod uses the alerts system, it should work.

In the Notifier, the settings is the same for both, meaning you I am unable to receive members notification once a week and friends immediately.

If I make a setting selection for one option it applies the same to the other.

In addition there is no Wall on the friends and faves?

The settings is meant to be the same. I only placed it on all pages for easy access so members can change their settings easily. Not sure what you mean by "there is no Wall on the friends and faves".

 What I mean is that Wall is shown under membership tab as an option which can activated, but when you move over to the Friends Tab there is no Wall option to trigger Yes/No

 1. Does this mod support all installed modules that have email templates.
      (if more mods are installed after the module installation )

Am jumping on this thread here - sorry.

I have patched the module for version 2.0.2 (from 2.0.1) and successfully recompiled the language for the module but am still getting this:

I have cleared the cache and am a bit stuck!  I don't know why these specifically won't translate (they are category headings) especially as only two of them have been translated.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Fixes error that occurs when members are unregistered.

When the member receive the notification about a comment, the notification DOES NOT include the link to the comment other members commented on. This is making members confuse on which post recieved the comment.

Is everyone's notification setting by default set to "Do not notify me"?  That is the default highlighted radio button. If that option is on automatically by default I would instead like for it to be Notify daily or immediate instead so when a member signs up they receive the default notifications right away. I am still playing with this.. Just installed it and set all the settings.

Also i updated my admin profile and test accounts to receive notifications immediately. Each account uses a different email provider. Neither accounts are getting notifications.

Yes I have. No spam mail. My cron job just messed up though so I need to get that fixed before I tackle this since I need it to send email. I've posted for support on the cron in another thread  but I am getting the cron email again every minute all of the sudden and it says this.

/bin/sh: line 1:  2758 Segmentation fault      php /home/www/mysite.com/periodic/cron.php > /dev/null

Soon as I get this worked out I will try again.

The mod uses cron job to send the mails so if the cron is not working that would explain why you are not getting them.

 Yeah I knew it did. I was not having a problem with my cron. It just started doing this. It has been working fine. I get this figured out Ill check everything again. Back to another question though. Once the mod is installed does everyone start getting default notifications or does every single person have to log in and enable notifications? I need it so everyone is set to receive notifications automatically. Otherwise they can log in and opt not to receive them.

Ok I have the cron 100% in working order. Emails are being sent from the boonex script such as subscriptions from the mass mailer and periodic reports. However, I have commented on test account walls, rated profiles, comment on photos, etc. None of this has triggered an email to either account for notification. Notifications are set to be received when these actions are done. As well all test accounts are made to be instant notification. No spam folders are active. All mail comes to inbox so messages are not being lost in spam folders. Anything I can check?

In your classes folder the file BxNotifyCron.php I seen this

I am guessing there is nothing else that controls the sending of emails other than this? Im a little lost on whether something regarding my server should be changed in one of your files such as use of smtp or something (which do not see evidence of). Or maybe the trigger is not happening when these actions happen? Sorry to keep posting I am just eager to get this in working order. I know it will be just what my site needs to keep the activity moving on the site. Thanks.

Ok modzzz,

I have my cron.php file from dolphin working perfectly again after numerous mass email test. I will not go into that problem no more than saying the .htaccess file in the periodic folder was killing my job. It working fine now and is fixed. I expected upon fixing it your mod would take off working but It is not.

Here is what I have:

1 admin account and 2 test accounts.

All 3 accounts are set to notify immediately. Things like photo comments, wall post, etc is all enabled to be notified for.

I am using all 3 of these account initiating actions to trigger an email from  your mod but nothing shows up.

As well I am using different email providers with one of those email accounts being server side.

I am trying to be proactive but I can not know where to start with trouble shooting.

Hello I would like to suggest the option that users are notified when comments and replies are left on wall posts ?!

Also for notifications to be received via internal site mail and 'site notifications'

 I will look into it. If I recall well, these are not included presently because these actions were not integrated with the alerts engine (the mod is alerts driven)

How to NOT SHOW modules which are not installed on the notifier?

E.g. I did not install 'Groups' but under notifier, the user can still set the notification for Groups.

Check the admin section for the mod and you will see "Manage Actions" where you can deactivate actions for any module.

I think there's a bug. 

I went to Manage Actions, and activated 'Avatar', cleared cache, but it is still not showing in the user's notifier page. (m/notify/my/)

I just noticed when someone rates a profile. The email shows up with the persons username as link. but the url to the link is just www.mysite.com/NickName. The actual nickname is not being passed in the url so you get a 404. No big deal for me. I am not using it but thought I would let you know.

I said that wrong above. Its the word "profile". It says " (Pretend Username) rated your Profile at MyWebsite dot com

The word profile is the one that returns the link of myfakewebsite.com/NickName (instead of the actual nickname being used) I like my ratings to be anonymous on the site so I changed mine but again just wanted to let you know.

 Download again and re-apply the last patch to resolve the issue.

 My version is the latest. The patch version you are showing from the download is 2.04. I already have that version according to my config file. I will apply it anyway though. I do not guess it would hurt anything. Time for sleep right now though.

This seems like a great mod but I cannot get it to install. Error - "Cannot install module from modzzz/notify/".

Install instructions say to "Upload the modules folder that comes in this zip package to your dolphin root."

This cannot be correct as the the only place that a module can be installed from is the module dir.

It also states "Merge with your existing modules folder."

Folders cannot be "Merged".

These two things alone are enough to prevent someone from installing this module.

I did however try several different ways of installing it from the module folder and each time got the error stated above.

I only ask for full detailed instructions on how to install this module in English please.

It worked for me (D7.0.9). I placed the "notify" folder (from the zip file) into the /modules/modzzz/ folder... then uploaded it to my hosting space and followed the install instructions...

Look in the list of "Not Installed Modules" for "Ultimate Notifier"

Select it and click "Install"

If it does not work it could be something unique to your website.  I've had that happen.

Not sure what you're talking about regarding merging folders.  I've "merged folders" on many occasions.  For example, merging /folder-a/file-1 with /folder-a/file-2 resulting in /folder-a/ having both file-1 and file-2.

Installed for me as well. The meaning of merged with your existing modules folder is this. First I have to assume you know what the "root" of the installation means. This is the same place your existing "modules" folder already is. Use your FTP program such as "FileZilla", FreeFtp, etc the list goes on. Choose the modules folder in package that you downloaded and choose to upload it to the root of site. It will then merge all the contents of the notification folders and files with your existing modules folder. Then you pick up following the install directions from there. It works fine. Something your doing is just not working right or the method in which you are trying to upload the files is in malfunction or error. What program or method are you using to upload these files? Did you unzip the file?

 I solved this client issue via email. For the benefit of others, merging folders simply means putting the contents of one folder into the other.

I need to solve this issue.

I cannot make the Ultimate Notifier module functional. I installed it correctly and I have no to apply the code provided into the readme file, because I am running the lastest version of Dolphin 7 and the function is already implemented. So, I just installed without any problem (very easy job) and I setted to be notified "inmediatelly" and activated the Email Site Notifications checkbox under my profile settings.

I generated some traffic and no mail or notification were sent.

What am I doing wrong? Should I set up any other configuration? This mod is very usefull to our social site and I need it working as soon as possible.

Name one specific action that was performed for which you should have been notified but did not get the notification. You mentioned something about generating traffic which gives me the impression that you maybe have a misunderstanding of how the mod should work.

When I say "to generate trafic", I want to say that I created 2 test users. I relationated them as friends, and made some content like blog posts and commented them, commented their both profiles, rated their blog posts and their profiles, and no mail were sent to any of their both accounts.

Only, when one suscribed to the other (like to a blog post) I recieved notifications but it is the standar notification that comes natively with Dolphin.

Also, I tested to send internal mailing (not cheking "recieve email notification" and "send a copy to senders mail") and Ultimate Notifier still not working.

What am I doing wrong?

 Seems I have a similar issue. Just never get any email of any of my friends adding blogs are any activity. Perhaps something I may have setup incorrectly.

Any ideas.

I am still waiting for Modzzz response by email. He stayed away for the past weekend so I am going to forward my email to see what is the solution all we need.

Any luck with this mod? Must be some setting I am missing. I have checked rechecked, uninstalled, reinstalled. Wonder what could it be. I still get no emails at all.

I have used the test accounts you provided for your site and I can confirm that notifications are indeed being sent. I changed the email address in your test profile to my email and I did receive the notifications. Please note that the notifications are sent to your external email (hotmail, gmail etc). There is no feature of the mod that allows sending notifications to your internal (Dolphin) mail

Unfortunately it seems I also do not get emails (external) whenever my friends post anything. Perhaps we can also test my site and see if you are indeed receiving messages. I am admin and have many friends on my list. They comment on posts and other items, but I am not notified.

I find it strange that you see presscon post and commented on it but totally overlooked the post where I responded to you. As I mentioned in my post above, I logged into your site and changed the user email to mine and I got the notifications so I have confirmed that your site is indeed sending the notifications.

 I logged into your site also and your notification settings is showing "Do not notify me".

 Sorry Modzzz the username I gave you was not setup to receive, you are correct. I will email you the admin password to try out. That was always setup to receive notifications.

RESPONSE : Event Creation and Profile Commenting. Email was @hotmail.com

I made no code changes. I created troubleshooting break points in those files while testing which would account for you seeing an updated timestamp on them.

I was still testing the mod, and I checked that it does not send email notifications when some friends comment into a blog post.

This option is checked: Comment on a Blog Post

For other actions, the mod seems to be OK, I recieved that friend notifications.

Could you check that?

is there a way to set all members to receive notifications automatically? It seems that the Ultimate Notifier defaults to having all the options for notification set to None rather than both.  It is set for immediate notification.    I want to automatically have it fully enabled for all my members then they will have to disable what they don't want to receive.

By default, the mod is set for immediate notification. Check the Settings section for the mod in the admin panel. These are the default settings :

Default Notifications about Friends/Fave activities - all
Default setting for receiving Notifications - yes

Yes those are set correctly.  However, when a member logs in and check their notifier page - All options for all modules are set to None.  I have over 17,000 members on the site so is there a way to set them all to Both and Immediately?

The only way this is possible is if there is an issue with your cron job setup and the mod was not properly initialized during installation or the members were added abnormally. Check the following tables, they should contain records for each person :

modzzz_notify_notification_settings

modzzz_notify_member_settings

Were these members on the site before or after installation of the mod ?

Were these members imported into the site or did they sign up regularly ?

I installed this Mod to a test site and email notifications were set to No, and all email notifications were set to no, which is what I wanted.  When I installed it to the working site, the email notification is set to Immediately, and all the email notifications were set to yes.

What could have possibly caused this?  I went back to admin and set email notifications to No for default action and it still showed as Immediately in the user setting.  What could cause this?  Any known conflicting modules?

The mod uses a cron job to initialize the mod shortly after installation. You maybe do not have cron setup properly on the test site. The initializing cron job runs one minute after installation so immediately after install you would have to change the default settings in Admin.

When you change the settings in Admin, the changes will only take effect on Profiles that join after the change is made. It will not reset existing member settings.

Adds an option to the Settings so Site Administrator can set the default period for which members receive notifications. Members can always override this period in their individual settings.

I'm confused. I've just patched step by step from 2.0.2 to 2.0.5 and in /m/notify/home/ I can only see the left column block, Notification Actions for Friends/Faves. Though according to Pages Bloks builder, there should be a Settings block in the right hand column, which is empty on my page (the column). The same for Notify My page, according to builder there should be a Settings block on the right, there's just empty column on my page though.

Furthermore, I checked the database and Default period for members to receive Notifications setting is only shown for 3 newest members. Does it mean that all this nice little settings for members will apply to new members who registered AFTER patching to/installing 2.0.5?? Does it also mean that Settings block, missing on my pages and having only an empty column instead, that this block will be shown only to the members who register from now on??

If this is so I thought there could be a way how to instert into databse some additional rows or columns to give also older members a chance to set their notifications for daily or weekly frequency??

No, even a brand new profile is NOT showing anything in the right-hand column. So HOW do members apply daily/weekly settings??

I have a problem.  I install the notifier to my test site and set all notifications in admin to none or no and it works as it should.  I install the notifier on the production site and set all notifications in admin to none or no and it does not work, when I go to the site and check, receive notifications on members sites is set to immediately, and all notifications are set to yes.  I can not install this module on the production site until I can figure this out.  Why is it not setting the defaults as I tell it to in the admin?

I can give you admin access to the site but not to the database.

The block should be showing. Something is wrong on your site and I will need to look at it. PM me the necessary info.

 Issue resolved. The html file for the bloc was missing.

I too cannot get this to work on my site. I have updated to the latest version. Member A  placed an ad in classified, all settings are set to the default Yes, Notify was set to Immediate.

Another member B commented on the Ad, NO notification was sent to the member A.

What have I done wrong?

 So sorry, first I have to make sure that I understand this. Can the Notification ONLY be sent if you are a Friend Or Fav?

Secondly is the notification via email or via the Notification tab On the Menu Bar Which is at the bottom of the screen.

Did NOT receive an Email, despite the 2 members being friends.

If the later is the only way Notification is sent, then it looks like it is working indeed.

Please advise how this works.

Members choose to receive notification when their Friends of Favorites perform actions on the site. (eg. when a friend announces a new event)

Members choose to receive notification when anyone perform an action on an item owned by the member (eg. If someone leaves a comment on an Event, the owner of the Event can chose to be notified or not. In this case, it doesn't matter whether the comment poster is a Friend or Fave)

 Notification is by Email.
