Extended Blogs block that now shows Latest, Top, Popular and Featured Blogs

On my home page it's showing the latest by default but it doesn't have a "box" surrounding it like the members or video block on my home page.

PM me your site URL so I can take a look at it. Based on the attached Photo, you have a customized template so there must be some incompatibility issue with the template.

How can I disable the 'reactions' feature.

I can delete the reactions block from page blocks editor, but for some reason reactions are still appearing next to new blog posts!

Someone just added a post and it automatically shows with an 'angry' reaction... not great!

Dont understand where this is coming from as the reactions block is removed from blogs.

In the file  : modules/boonex/blogs/classes/BxBlogsSearchUnit.php

Find :

$bShowReact = true;

Replace with :

$bShowReact = false;

The mood list can be modified by logging in to Admin and go to Settings => Predefined Values then select 'BlogMood' from the drop down box

Is there a way for the Blogs block on the Homepage to default to 'Featured'?

Open the file : modules\boonex\blogs\classes\BxBlogsModule.php

In  function serviceBlogsIndexPage(),

Find :

$oBlogSearch->aCurrent['paginate']['perPage'] = (int)getParam("max_blogs_on_home");

Just below, add :

$oBlogSearch->aCurrent['sorting'] = 'featured';   
if(bx_get('blogs_mode')==''){
$oBlogSearch->aCurrent['restriction']['featuredStatus']['value'] = 1;
}

I cannot find a way to edit my blog description (overview block). I think I made a mistake when I commented out the description option from BxblogModule and now I cannot edit what I wrote. The thing is that when I restored the code line it didn't work and I still don't have an idea on how to edit the blog description.

Do you have an idea how to handle this?

Hi, I purchased your ultimate blogs module, it works just fine but I can't make the descriptions of blog posts longer, and they all seem to get cut off based on number of characters. Is there a way to modify this, I tried through the module's admin and it had no effect.

 This is addressed in the latest patch. In the Admin Settings for the mod, there is now a setting called "Max. allowable length of blog post" which you can adjust.

Adds the ability for Admin to configure the allowable length of blog posts.

My problem, however was the length of the preview that shows up on the homepage - I can't seem to be able to change that from the menu. See here http://iorganic.ca - the blog preview just cuts off and that doesn't look very good.

Do you think it's possible to have the post descriptions on front page based on number of words and have them end in something like "Read More" or an ellipsis?
Also, I think the ability to write your own post description is much needed. 

Please advise the status of Ultimate Blogs and 7.0.7 mine broke after the upgrade and was throwing database errors.    

Anything on this is this ready to be used now with 7.0.7?  Please advise the status and maybe ETA

I have a problem with 7.0.7, when you click to see blog entry it shows blank page...is this bug on my site or I must wait for updated version? That doesn't happened with 7.0.6.

 The original RSS Feed functionality is not modified in the mod.

 You will not lose existing data after installing the mod.

Adds the ability to embed Youtube Videos by entering only the Video Url.

Is there a way for an admin to make an edit to a user's blog post without it then changing hands and seeming like the admin was the one that wrote it? Or at least a way to change the author back to the user after editing?

Also, are there RSS feeds for the entire site's blog stream, and is there one for only featured blogs? Or could those be created somehow?

Administrator can now edit a blog post without the Author for the post being changed. Previously (also in default Boonex blogs module), Admin would automatically become the Author for the blog Post after editing.

How to view blog posted by calendar page by page ?

When I opened the new post by calendar, the first page is right. But when clicked the page index, it will go back and start to view all the post. This is not I expected. I will continue to view the pages related to this calendar date page by page.

Any suggestion ?

I'm getting "Comments is disabled" on new blog posts, comments seems to work fine in other modules. I have the latest versions of Dolphin and Ultimate Blogs.

1. How can I remove the mood option please. If it is too integrated into the code then how can i have only 4 mood choices? Can I just delete the ones I do not want from the predefined list?

2. Also is there no way for members to comment on a blog?

3. Can the Blog Categories on the Blog Home pages not be displayed alphabetically?

 I see the comment block on the Page Builder (admin), but cannot see it on the Blog view page. 

FYI - I removed the Reaction Block AND also changed program code so it would not display as per your instructions on the Ultimate Blog Support Forum.

 You want members to pay to post in blogs ? If so, there are no plans for this functionality.

 Not at all. I am referring to other functions like the search and perhaps the sub-categories or local.

I added a blog and all the settings were for public, yet when I send the link to another person, they can read the article yet cannot comment on it. Why is that. It is set to public.

By default, dolphin does not allow non-logged in persons to post comment in any module. If you want that functionality, go to Admin=>Settings=>Advanced Settings = >Other and turn on the setting that says "enable possibility to post comments by guests"

I just installed 2.07 and when I create a blog post I am getting Comments Disabled and they are disabled on the rest of my blogs.. I am reading here that is what got fixed in 2.07, so my question is what is going on here? Did I miss something?

Trying to see if the Ultimate Blogs has an RSS feed that would show the newest(latest) blog posts that have been posted on the site that would be  .  The stock bllog has RSS feed for individual members, I trying to see if this mod has a feed that shows the latest post for all members combined. Hope I am expressing clearly.

RSS functionality is the same as the default mod.

Using the Video Embed function, where you can embed a video from YT using the URL only, is there a way to change the dimensions it displays on the blog?

At the moment, it seems to automatically post the video very small.

I need it to at least widen to the default blog page block setting.

I know I can change the embed settings using the normal (old) embed code, but its the embed straight from URL that I need to edit...

This is the only way YT will allow me to embed a playlist instead of lots of single videos...

RSS importer tools for quite a few of my mods (blogs, jobs etc) will be available in the market very soon.

Thats something I was just looking into so perfect timing :-)

Will the importer be admin control only, or will site users be able to do it easily themselves?

modzzz, I have issues where blogs added by users are no updated / added to categories even with 2 or 3 blogs with a category

example:  food blogs / food and drink blogs (i made this one) >> users add blogs to these categories >> blogs are not in category when clicked (appear after few minutes ..maybe) >> category says "0 Posts"..

I have no idea why it acts like this ... please can you help ;)

 UPDATE:-  I noticed that even though blogs are approved by Admin and say approved in admin panel blogs area  >>>  the blogs/posts are only updated in categories block when approved a second time again via admin panel blogs area !!

Please test and you will see what I mean ;)

This is a bug inherited from the default blogs module but it was fixed in this advanced version. Are you running the latest version of the mod ?

 PM me the site info. I need to personally check the mod on your site to ensure that it does have the latest files. I cannot see how you could be experiencing this issue with the latest version of the mod. The error with the default blog was detected sometime ago and a fix was applied.
