Premium Events - Maps+News+Venue+Sponsors Mod Support (Modzzz) - part 2

I really like the way most of this mod works but there are a couple of things that could really be helpful if you find a way to work them in.

1) Better recurring scheduling features, for example, there should be a way to indicate "1st Friday of the month".

2) A lot of events have multiple venues but I think it is more likely that a venue will have multiple events.  It would be really cool to be able to turn the relationship around so that a user could browse all the events at a particular venue--what's coming up at the Gotham Civic Auditorium...?  Of course, some of this can be handled by group events but it is not really the same thing.

 I totally agree pmarinac, but Events has always been the worst spot for Boonex Modules. I have both UE30 and Modzzz events installed, and they both have their pluses. I think the biggest thing is the recurring events. Only Modzzz has it, and it does work real well. UE30 does not have that functionality and it has been over 19 months since it was requested, so who knows?

UE30 does have the Locations tied into the event real well so you can pull up a location, and see events, but overall, after using both for a long time, I give more promise to Modzzz and his development. His events will integrate with the points, and he already has ties into the other modules he does like Bands, and Groups that make his far more flexible. The Locations (venues) tie-in will definitely come, but Jerome has over 100 modules to support, so he does bust balls to make everybody happy.

You also might want to look at the Facebook Event Importer for Events by Webby. It will import via cron, selected Facebook Pages event listings directly into the Events system. Set it up once, and you have events posting without any issue.

Right now it seems like the current list of wants for the Events are:

Microformats, block for multiple embed videos, venues tie in for events and bands

Premium Events mod already has multiple video embed functionality plus it allows complete location drill-down (not just country but also state). Microformats has been recently added (an update will be published shortly).

Hello, I am having a problem with this mod, and I have a horrible time getting the author to write me back. 

It is upgraded to the most recent version for Boonex Dolphin 7.0.9.   However, despite the market saying it is 2.1.4, it only has patches to 2.1.2.  

Some Maps show up on some events, while new ones don't appear.

I can not figure out why some have maps that display, while everything new does not.  I generated a new API browser key just to see if that was it -- no change.  I have run the patches (again, up to 2.1.2) and nothing has changed.  I am at a total loss, and although I sent my login credentials to the programmer, he hasn't written back.  (I've actually waited over a year for another issue that has gone unresolved... which is adding events for dates prior to 1969.  I've repurposed the module but he said he was working on a patch. If anyone has a fix for that -- I'd love to hear it)

I just don't understand if you pay for a mod, why you don't get proper support.  I can not get the programmer to write me back.

VERY frustrating.  This used to be one of the good guys to buy from. After spending hundreds of dollars here, I think those days are done.  I hope I am proven wrong with some type of response -- but I would recommend to everyone buy at your own risk - and don't expect support.

I have 2.1.4 version but getting the below error message. Anyone that have had this and know how to get it fixed?

I gave it more than enough time. After I've spoken more than highly about this programmer, modzzz, I highly recommend that everyone stop buying from him.  There has been ZERO support for his modules now for months on problems I've had on 2 of them.  I've written publicly and privately, and no response. Not even a "I don't have time."

Unfortunately, Boonex, and it's programmers, has gone way down hill.  I've spent a TON of money here on various scripts, programs etc., just to now be let down for the last time.

Feels a bit strange to ask another developer to help out but maybe it's one way and the most efficient way for your project to move forward?

Ask another developer to support this developers mod?  I'd find that insulting, so my guess is maybe they would also :)

I find the USERS here very friendly and helpful (usually) but the programmers just seem to make something, throw it online, and sit back to collect the PayPal checks not caring about any of us.

It's frustrating, and just sad.  

 What you should do is to backup the tables for the events using MySql, then uninstall the app. Upload the latest version, and then re-install. I have done that and gets better results in many cases when upgrading versions of either Dolphin or a module.

This is an issue with Dolphin 7.1.4 sites. The mod has been updated. Re-download and replace this folder :

modules/boonex/events/classes

Dolphin 7.0 version update - Patch 2.1.3 (see patches/version_2.1.3 folder in zip file) released to update Google Maps integration.

I applied the patch as instructed.

Now, the maps display, but each event points to the same location off the coast of Africa.  Although it's really zoomed in, zooming out shows you where it maps each event. The other events are showing fine for me except that one. PM your site login and I will take a further look at it. I have recreated a similar event on the demo site with the same address and it is showing fine, see http://dolphinmods.com/709/m/events/view/MOUNT-PLEASANT

Although I sent this privately in addition to my site login info, I will post this publicly as well.

The other ones show correctly, because to get the map to show the correct address, I have to edit the event, then, press save (I don't change anything.)  That apparently "resets" the map to the correct position.

Is there a cache for this? Clearing the Dolphin cache did nothing -- but maybe I am missing something somewhere else?

the below problem is resolved with the download and replacement of folder modules/boonex/events/classes

 However, when being in My Events I go to Manage and click on Next Page I get the following error message.

"Fatal error: Call to undefined method BxEventsPageMy::getBlockCode_My() in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/inc/classes/BxDolTwigModule.php on line 1807"

There is also an error when in Actions I click +PARTICIPANT

"Database query error"

Wow, another programmer completely down the toilet.

I supported modzzz as the only programmer I would buy from. Then, slowly, he never returned any emails or requests for help.  Responses took weeks, or a month or two, and one issue he said he would address went unanswered for a year.

I finally had enough, and you see my posting above about my frustration. After STILL no response, I add a review. I gave AMPLE time. 

I received a private message from him regarding my "negative feedback" and how he will now never revamp the module because of me.  Now I go to the page -- and it's a 404.

How sad Boonex allows this to go on.  WE ARE PAYING CLIENTS. Shouldn't we get support for what we pay for? I don't demand it in an hour, or even a day, but ANY response would be good.  But to go WEEKS and MONTHS?  Unacceptable. And now? The module is gone. 

Listen guy, stop spreading propaganda. I did not tell you that I will never update the mod. I said I will not add a particular feature. I have temporarily disabled the mod because I am making updates to it. Haven't you already received the update to the Map problem and confirmed that it is working ? I have been making mods for Dolphin even before it was called Dolphin (it was called Aedating then). I am on this site almost every day posting product updates and responding to clients. I have seen many Bandwagonists come and go and I am still here. Check each of my 170 products here and you will see that the support forums are well supported. I am busy trying to deal with the demands of waiting clients and really do not have the time to follow up with your game plan (discrediting me).

You're on every day and ignore my emails?   I see you're simply proving my point even more.

Keep in mind, I was a paying client too, and bought quite a few of your mods.  Where were my responses before I finally posted a complaint?  I see your reputation is valuable, but your paying clients aren't?

Sad.  Longevity being here doesn't prove your worth. Your actual service does, and I think your response (or lack thereof) proves it. 

This isn't a discrediting campaign -- this is simply the truth. I can copy and paste the MULTIPLE emails I sent to you that went unanswered, or took WEEKS and WEEKS to get a response.

Regarding the emails, some acknowledgement should have been made, and that I do apologize for.

Please PM me the actual error message you got in the email. I am unable to replicate the "Add Participants" error.

It would be really cool if this mod could do a couple of basic things:

1) Local Events on Account page: Show more than just events that are set at "public" privacy.  Logged in members should be able to see events in this block that meet the standard event privacy criteria, be they members, friends, contacts, etc.  Public events are fine for the home page but by the time the user is on the account page you know exactly who they are and what they have access to.

2) Identifying "Local Events" based on city is pretty useless given that major metropolitan areas often have numerous cities that are pretty close together.  It would be far better to tie the local functionality into the geolocation features built-in to Dolphin.  So that I could say local events are any event within 10, 50, 150, etc., km of the location of the event.  That way, if I create an event in Boston, I could make sure that it is local to people in Cambridge, Lowell, Brockton and Quincy, etc.  If there is an event in San Francisco, I could ensure that it is local for people from Oakland, Berkeley, South San Francisco, Emeryville, Sausalito, Marin, Daly City, San Jose, Cupertino, etc. Local is relative, cities can be small. There needs to be more flexibility here.

Issue:

On the "event Main page" in the "Latest Comments block", it Posted in "Name of the event", but the link is only http://www.mywebsite/m/events/view/  without any thing after view/ so it doesn't take do the event where the comment is posted.

Anybody else having the same issue ?

Question:

When a user is added as an "Administrator" of the event, in the "actions block" the "edit button" is not showing for the new administrator. Is that normal ?

And please, modzzz can you check the last messages I send you here at boonex. The issue I explain with your organization module is a very important one for me to be fixed.

• I saw the last update on the market is from the 16.10.2013 but still 2.1.4. Is this update fixing the issue with the incomplete link in the "Form post" in main event page ? How do you set the time zone so the events in "Premium Events" indicate the correct locale time for the event?

I created an event at www.geospatialconnect.net/dolph/m/events/view/GeoSpatial-Connect-Webinar-Services for 10th December 2013 (which is now in my time time) but it is telling me it starts in 16 hours not now.

@jpl1er - The issues you mentioned were resolved.

@deanhowell - There is no possibility to set timezone presently. All dolphin modules uses Server Time.

The mod has been updated to queue Broadcast and Invitation messages and send them periodically instead of trying to send them immediately.

Re-upload modules\boonex\events\classes folder.
