My 2 cents about $500 - Part 2 - part 2

Also it's possible to buy mobile license separately:

There's now no way to buy a few licenses at once. You have to buy one by one, and discount is applied automatically. Also, as Alex noted, you can buy mobile licenses separately. Additionally, you can use standard licenses as mobile licenses (they will work). And finally, whenever we receive and email asking for upgrade, bulk package, deal, etc. we are always happy to work out an agreement. Just talk to us.

Im just hoping the response does not take no where near as long as it takes on the forums here, that would be freaking perfect!

What I want to know is why this topic is appended Part 2 - part 2  Will the next one be part 2 part 2 part 2?  How 'bout some real pagination?  I think we should part with the part.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

I think Andrew split the original topic into two himself, so now Autopilot has taken the liberty of splitting it a third (second as far as it's concerned) time.

to clarify things, I got my permanent license way back when we were able to get it via donations. This means that i would have to pay $799 to become Prime? no discount?

thanks

It should not matter how you got your permanent license, either through donations or an outright gift; you should be entitled to the discount because you hold a permanent license.  Contact Boonex and tell them you are not seeing your discount.

I did contact boonex with this "Hello, I was looking to go prime at the discount price since I already hold a permanent license but when i click it has a price of $799, can you edit this manually?"

thanks

the response was "Hello.

The pricing structure clarification can be foudn at http://www.boonex.com/n/dolphin-licenses-pricing-structure-clarification

Please, let me know if there is anything else I could help you with, or if you have any more questions.

Maybe we need someone to come in and explain this, Andrew Boon for example.

Standard License prices (in AUD):

$399 for the first license

- $249 for repeat orders (2nd to 10th license)

- $149 after you've purchased 10 or more licenses

Now, I read this as your second standard permanent license will be $249.00 and you will pay this from your second license purchased up to your tenth license purchase.

Prime prices (in AUD):

$799 for the first order

- $499 for repeat orders (when you have 2 to 10 licenses)

- $299 after you've purchased 10 or more licenses

This one is not so easy to understand.  I would think it would be the same as above, that if you already hold one license, be it standard or prime, that you are entitled to a discount on the Prime license.  The bit in parentheses is not the same as in the standard license so maybe Mr. Boon would be so kind as to clarify the statement.

I'm guessing the discount is separate for each license - so the Prime discount is limited to Prime licenses. It says the discount is for another order, which I assume means of the same kind, and the first discount for Prime lists 2-10 licenses as a requirement as well.

Back to the original topic. For standard licenses, I'd rather see a monthly license for a cheaper amount. For example, $15-20.00 to keep Dolphin brand-free each month, and $100-200.00 for no expiration. I couldn't see myself paying $400.00 for a license right off the bat, but could stomach a monthly license until I'm ready.

If Dolphin had been $400.00 when I started I would never had used it.  I turned down phpFox because of the price for it, which for the community version was $299.00

I think the better deal for Boonex would be to do away with the price for the branding removal and start selling support.  RedHat is very successful selling support for an Open Source server operating system.

I liked the idea of monthly paid licenses.

and so could I and I'm sure a lot of us would do this.. Imagine the cash flow BoonEx would have.

Even something as low as $10 per month would pull in a good deal of money.

And i actually think the number of people that decide to license would seriously increase.

It would only take between 250-350 lisences to pay one person a decent yearly salary. So boonex would have to sell a few thousand to pay everyone, but i believe that should be pretty easy to obtain.

Better than trying to sell support contracts. That would require a huge number of employes and that job burns people out. Not very many people can deal with customers on a regular basis. I got burned out many many years ago. Cannot do that for a living again.

What I am hearing from those that come into Dolphin is the NO SUPPORT issue; that is what drives them away from Dolphin.  OK, how about that $400.00 license buys support then; even if for a limited time.  The lack of support is going to be what hurts Dolphin eventually.  The forums are full of people crying for help that never got answered.  Do you think they continued with Dolphin or said; "The hell with it"?

@tony7, I would go back and tell them that the answer you got was not an answer and you want it clarified; tell them that you already went to that bloody page.  Send Andrew a message, he should know the answer; all we can do is guess at what he meant.

Those that hold only one license, what do YOU see when you go to buy Prime?

Yes, I know you see it, what I meant was from those that purchased a license directly.  I am wondering if it has to do with something about your account not being set.

I know this, Standard and Prime are not separate.  Looking at the Market from a Prime license I see that I could buy a standard license for a discount.

Prime prices (in AUD):
- $499 for repeat orders (when you have 2 to 10 licenses)

For the standard license - you need to have at least 1 of any licenses to have a discount.

For the prime license - you need to have at least 2 of any licenses OR 1 prime package (which consists of 2 licenses: standard and mobile rebranding) to get the discount.

So please go to payment form and see of you have discount on standard license and no discount on prime license then you have only 1 license.

There you go, now ask Andrew Boon to get this fixed since you are not getting your discount for holding a permanent license.
